When you only see your dentist a few times a year, it’s important to know what you want to ask when you’re in the chair! At The Dental Room, we have four questions we feel every patient should ask their dentist. Let’s take a look at what’s important to know about your oral health, and the steps we can take to help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted!

1. How Do I Practice Good Oral Care At Home?

Practicing a strong oral hygiene regimen is key to having a successful dental check-up! We recommend following the Canadian Dental Association guidelines. This suggests that patients should be brushing their teeth a minimum of twice a day, for two minutes each time. It’s best to break up your brushing into four segments, 30 seconds each. This will include your upper left and right side, and lower left and right side. By doing this you will crush the two minute mark with ease!

Make sure you floss your teeth at least once a day, and that you do it before brushing your teeth to break up any food particles stuck in your gums!

2. How Can I Avoid Gum Disease?

Gum disease or periodontal disease is when you have a chronic buildup of plaque and tartar. Gingivitis is another common gum disease where patients may find their gums receding. This can be an issue if untreated as your teeth may start to become loose, or in worst cases fall out. The best way to ensure gum disease stays at bay is to book biannual dental exams with Dr. Chattha, as tartar can only be removed by our team of dental professionals.

3. How Do I Help My Sensitive Teeth?

Sensitive teeth can be caused by a variety of issues. Such as cavities, fractured teeth, worn filings and more. If you experience chronic sensitive teeth, be sure to make this a talking point with Dr. Chattha so you can be professionally assessed.

4. How Can I Take My Smile To The Next Level?

There are many cosmetic treatments that can make your smile have that wow factor! Porcelain veneers and crown caps can take an already good smile to the next level. For those who have beautiful teeth and just want a little boost, teeth whitening is a great solution. These quick and easy treatments may just be what you need for a little more confidence, or to make your smile that much better!

Come Visit In Our Dental Clinic Downtown Calgary!
